Utah Summer Micro Wedding
Updated: Oct 14
Ruby & Wyatt
I met Wyatt online in 2018. As TikTok says, it was love at first “swipe”. We talked online for weeks before meeting in person. As a wedding & event planner, I have a very creative personality, and so Wyatt being an engineer is perfect because he brings a different perspective to our relationship.
Originally, we were going to get married in October because we love fall! However, Since we wanted an outside wedding we didn't want to count on the weather cooperating so we made a last minute decision to have our wedding in June. We got married on June 10, 2022,it was an extremely hot day for a Utah summer. It averaged about 101 degrees that day, even in the mountains, so everyone sweated. But that didn’t stop our loved ones from showing up, nor did it stop us from saying I do under a tree in the middle of the mountain top.
As a wedding planner, I wanted a wedding with just my closest friends & family. Wyatt being an introvert, just wanted to elope. So in true fashion to our relationship, we compromised. We had our ceremony in the middle of the mountains of Heber, UT with no cell service, and just our immediate family members as witnesses. Our reception was at an AirBnb, provided by a friend of mine, where our 30 closest friends came to celebrate with us.
The Dress and The Colors
As a teenager I worked in a dress shop and always knew what I wanted my wedding dress to look like. After looking at a couple of bridal shops, I couldn't find one that called out to me. My dear friend, who is a fashion designer and a seamstress offered to make me my dress! She made my dress from sketch, to pattern, to sample, to the final product that you see in the pictures. I choose my lace off of a fabric shop on Etsy, Wyatt always knew that when we got married he wanted to wear a simple grey suit. Even though we were getting married in the summer, I still wanted fall colors so I chose a gorgeous burnt orange (orange being my favorite color) to be the color of Wyatt's tie and pocket square. The Groomsmen all wore matching suits to Wyatt. My bridesmaids wore a sage colored dress to complete the fall look that I wanted!
I always knew that I wanted my godfather to officiated the ceremony and it added such a personal touch to have someone I loved as the officiant.
We did something untraditional and added family dances to our reception! We each danced to a song with our families. Wyatt's favorite song is Welcome to the Black Parade. While not a happy song, it holds a sentimental value and Wyatt wanted it to be apart of our day. Wyatt and I, along with his family slow danced to this song. My family is the complete opposite and all danced to The Git Up by Blanco Brown. It was a total party danced and extremely represented my family!
The Unique Touch
We are really practical people so the idea of just having a guest book sitting on our coffee table was not appealing at all. So we came up with the unique idea to do guest cornhole boards. All the guests were able to sign the boards as they entered or left the reception. This is something that I absolutely loved as now, we will be able to use these guest boards throughout our life.
My favorite moment of our day was our vows! Looking into Wyatt's eyes and hearing him say his vows to me was a memory I will never forget.
Wyatt was so sweet and left a review ;) lol
Ruby was phenomenal at planning my wedding. Every detail was meticulously planned out, every wedding vendor was thoroughly asked about details so my big day went perfect!
